Massive Arrest Blind Sides Democratic Party, Look What They Were Just Caught Doing
During Barack Obama’s presidency, millions of Americans were given a free pass to game the system and go on welfare. Now that Donald Trump is in the White House, that is all about to change.
For years now, the food stamp program has been riddled with fraud. Sadly, what began as a good-faith effort to combat hunger among the poor has been taken advantage of as an opportunity to milk the system and build a personal enrichment scheme.
Recently, Baltimore resident Mohammed Shafiq, had his program of food stamp fraud brought to an end with a conviction and a sentence of four years in prison. He was also ordered to participate in three years of post-prison supervision and to make a payment in the amount of $3.7 million.
“Shafiq was the latest defendant to be sentenced in a series of prosecutions of 14 retailers in the Baltimore area,” reports noted. “A federal grand jury indicted the retailers in August 2016 for food stamp and wire fraud. The 14 retailers stole a total of $16 million from the U.S. Department of Agriculture by illegally exchanging food stamps for cash, according to the indictment.”
This is not the first offense of its kind. Multiple stores across the country have been cited for millions of dollars in food stamp fraud. Investigators discovered more than $20 million worth of food stamp fraud in Florida alone, and 140 stores in Chicago were also cited for fraud.
Make no mistake—this is a big business for the criminals ungrateful enough to abuse our hard-earned tax dollars.
